Our Family Houses are permanent homes for children who have been abandoned or abused. 8 children live in a loving household with a House Mama & Auntie that have been trained in trauma counseling. Our Community Center is a daily gathering place for our sponsored families. They come for lunch, tutoring, computer training, & counseling.
You could help support Lelt’s Community Center, the heart of everything we do.
Our Community Center is located just steps from the public school in the village of Kara Kore. This building is the center and safe haven for our community. The Community Center hosts a variety of events, including: daily lunch distribution, afterschool tutoring classes, adult education classes, and trauma counseling. It also houses Lelt’s administrative offices. The building is truly the heart of Lelt Foundation’s work.
The Community Center costs $800/month to run, including rent, utilities, staff salaries, and supplies. Please help us keep this building running!
Your contribution can help provide refuge for boys in Kara Kore.
All children deserve a safe home. Our Repi Boys’ Home is a private residence that houses eight children who had been orphaned, living on the streets, or living in extremely abusive situations. This is not a foster home. It is a permanent and loving residence where boys can grow and feel safe. In this home, the boys receive nutrition, shelter, tutoring, trauma counseling, emotional support, and encouragement to explore higher education.
The home is managed by a House Mother and Auntie. These women have been trained in trauma counseling and help the children reach their potential by showing them love and respect, and encourage them to focus on their studies.
The Repi Boys’ House runs entirely on donor support and costs $825 a month to operate. To reach that goal, we still need 20 more people to contribute $25/month to have the house fully funded. To support the operation of this vital project, please click the link below.
Your contributions can help provide refuge for girls in Kara Kore.
The Bethel House follows the same model as the Repi Boys’ House. Like the Boys’ House, it is approved and supported by the Ethiopian Government and is thriving in the community of Kara Kore. There are currently eight girls living at Bethel House who were previously abandoned or living in abusive circumstances, and their lives have improved dramatically since they moved into their new home.
