New Lelt Community Center

Lelt Foundation has moved to a brand new Community Center! We are still unpacking and getting things in order, but it's a modern, new-construction facility with twice the space as our former Center. It features dedicated classrooms for tutoring, a designated library and music, a separate dining room and modern plumbing. Our administrative offices will be in the front wing of this new building, and side living quarters will house our Repi Boys’ House, which is a family home for formerly orphaned boys. Additionally, there is a garden plot and playground space outside. We are grateful to all of our supporters – without you, this would not have been possible!

World Cup

The FIFA World Cup is the largest single-event sporting competition in the world, and Lelt supports our fellow African nations as they compete! Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria all qualified for the tournament this year.

In 2006 FIFA began a project called “Win in Africa with Africa.” The project is an initiative to develop youth football programs, artificial football fields, and multiple educational programs for African youth. FIFA devotes time and resources to improving conditions for Africans. Lelt thanks and supports FIFA!

Our store carries official Ethiopia National Football Team jerseys in adult and child sizes. Visit shop.leltfoundation.org to find jerseys and other great Ethiopian merchandise.

PCMS donates Lead2Feed award to Lelt Foundation

Port Chester Middle School has had a lasting relationship with the Lelt Foundation. Each year, they participate in fundraising events to benefit children in our Ethiopian community, and they currently sponsor Getahun through Lelt’s Child Sponsorship Program. This year, Ms. Silverman's class entered the Yum! Foundation’s Lead2Feed competition with a proposal to feed impoverished children in Ethiopia through micro-farming. They won 2nd place and awarded Lelt Foundation $5,000 to help feed children in our community. This group of students continues to inspire us with their global empathy. Thank you for your continued support, PCMS!

Meet Hailemichael

Meet Hailemichael, our friend from Kara Kore, Ethiopia. He is eight years old, and he is in the second grade at Repi Primary School, where his favorite subject is English. Hailemichael has three sisters and one brother, and his favorite food is spaghetti. He loves to play soccer with his friends at recess.

His mother is very ill, and his father takes care of her. As a result, Hailemichael’s parents are unemployed, leaving his family with no income. This family often went days without food – until now. Thanks to the kindness of one of our donors, Hailemichael was recently sponsored. Now, he receives daily meals and after school tutoring, and his parents receive monthly food rations and medical assistance. They will be given priority to join Lelt’s Business Creation Program, where they will be empowered to create their own small business. We thank all of our sponsors and donors for their continued support, which gives Ethiopians like Hailemichael and his family the help they need to pull themselves out of poverty.
